Juneberry Beauty: Sparkle & Shine!

There really is no better time than the holidays to glitz and glam up your beauty routine!  All of that cool air and running of the heater can leave you feeling a little dull and dried out-so leave it to glitter, of course, to make you feel all shiny & fabulous again!

This next trend is a daring one but I couldn't help but share.  It all started with a certain someone's sparkly shoes.  You may have heard of them . . .

And this past January there was this magical Kate Spade ad which only added to the allure:

And the next thing you know, we were adding punch to our pout with the rubiest of red glitter & lipstick.  Want to be bold and give it a go?  Here's what you do . . .

Supplies You Will Need:
~ Red Lip Pencil (try MAC pencil in Cherry)
~ Red Lisptick (Mac Ruby Woo)
~ Lip Brush
~ Glitter Glue by Ben Nye
~ Loose Cosmetic Glitter (Fardel Loose Glitter in Red PO7)

Directions

1. To help your lip makeup last longer, begin by blending a small amount of concealer or foundation over the edge of your lips with your fingertip.

2. To create a sharp lip contour and prevent your lipstick bleeding, outline your lips with a lip pencil. Start in the middle of the top lip, and using small, short strokes, work outward to the corners. Then, using the same technique described above, line the lower lip.

3. For a precise application, paint on your lipstick with a lip brush. Applying lipstick with a lip brush, as opposed to directly from the bullet, gives you greater control along the curves of the lips. Accuracy is important when you are using bright/dark pigments, because they are not as forgiving as natural shades and flaws are more obvious.

4. It’s glitter o’clock!

(a) Decant some glitter glue onto a mixing tray (or similar).

(b) Immerse the tip of an art brush in the glitter glue.

(c) Dip the glue-laden bristles into a pot of cosmetic grade glitter.

(d) Press the brush over the surface of your lips to deposit the glitter.

(e) Repeat steps (b) to (d) until you achieve the desired effect.

Take care not to apply the glitter too far inside the mouth or it will end up on your teeth. To remove any excess, put your thumb in your mouth, suck it gently and slowly pull it out.

5. It’s party time! For maximum impact, pair the glitter lip with a neutral eye.

And in case you love the sparkle but aren't ready to commit to red . . .

There you have it!  Fa la la la la....have a wonderful evening! Photobucket

  1. Nice Blog, The red-lip with glitter is my image. I just used Armani #400 red Lipstick and stuck Nail Glitter onto the lips! Much easier and flatter than using glue. :) Never the less, a wonderful read! Congrats!
